The journey
  1. Toolmaker → Honda & Ricardo

    From the shop floor

Lee Sambrook's journey began on the shop floor, starting out as a toolmaker and building his career from the ground up. His technical expertise and strategic thinking took him to director-level roles in engineering, strategy and technical innovation with organisations including Honda in Japan and Ricardo in the UK.

  2. McLaren · Mercedes

    Formula 1

His career also took him into the world of Formula 1, where he worked as part of Lewis Hamilton's pit team at McLaren and later Mercedes — an experience that placed him at the heart of one of the world's most demanding engineering environments.

  3. Acquires GE Starr

    Back to his roots

After years at the forefront of engineering and innovation, Lee was drawn back to his roots, seizing the opportunity to acquire GE Starr and build something of his own.

  4. One roof

    A true one-stop proposition

His vision was to create more than a traditional engineering company. He set out to build a true one-stop engineering proposition, bringing key capabilities under one roof — from design and laser cutting through to bending, pressing, welding and powder coating — giving GE Starr greater control over quality, consistency and delivery at every stage.

  5. Luxury automotive

    Trusted by prestigious names

Drawing on his experience and reputation within the industry, Lee established relationships with some of the most prestigious names in the automotive world, making GE Starr an integral part of the manufacturing supply chain for luxury automotive brands.

  6. New sectors · own products

    What's next

Today, that ambition continues. GE Starr is evolving beyond its traditional markets, entering new sectors and developing its own products, while retaining the craftsmanship, engineering expertise and attention to detail that define the business.
